After two days retail politicking in the first-in-the-nation primary state of New Hampshire, Gov. Chris Christie swooped down a beleaguered Atlantic City yesterday for the grand opening of the Bass Pro Shops megastore — where upon he was met with a crowd of Eagles fans heckling (in jest?) the Republican incumbent.
“Thank you, Johnny. Thank you. I love the Eagles fans are here, baby. I’m thrilled — Brian, where’s Brian? Get up here, Brian. I love Brian Westbrook,” Christie said during brief remarks outside the store. “What are you talking about?”
Westbrook is a former running back for the Philadelphia team, while Christie is famously a Cowboys fan.
“Thank you everybody. Thank you New Jersey. Thank you Eagles fans. And I want to thank Johnny Morris so much for what he’s done for this country, but also the faith and confidence that he’s shown in New Jersey and in Atlantic City by building and opening this extraordinary place behind me,” Christie said.
