These HOCK dumbbells, available in racks of three or five, are perhaps best described as part fitness item, part Minimalist work of art. Made from walnut and sleek stainless steel, they’re gorgeous enough to make you forget you are still five bicep curls short of completing your fourth set.
Even the weight rack itself is easy on the eyes; standing a little over two feet tall, it, too, is crafted from walnut, with a brushed stainless steel base. Add in the sleek dumbbells, and the entire apparatus could no doubt double as home décor.

HOCK is the brainchild of German designer Kristof Hock, the self-proclaimed “creative mastermind” who, in mid-2008, devised a plan to create “extraordinary” fitness and exercise products. HOCK’s mission is to fuse form and function in all of its work—evidenced by such creations as its 18-karat golden dumbbells and its hand weights made from Italian leather.
“We only build a prototype,” the company’s site says, “when we’re sure that every angle, curve and proportion is absolutely spot on.”
