Just in time for warmer weather to start rolling in, leading celebrity stylist Kate Young is launching an eyewear collection.
Ms. Young—known for styling stars like Natalie Portman, Michelle Williams, Sienna Miller and Dakota Johnson—partnered with eyewear maker Tura to develop the new collection. Available May 1, it features both sunglasses and optical frames.
The Brooklyn-based Ms. Young got her start in the fashion world as an assistant to Anna Wintour at Vogue. Since then, she’s dresses A-listers for red carpets, styled shoots for magazines like InStyle and Dossier, and mentored designers like Jason Wu and Derek Lam. She launched a line for Target in 2013, and her book, Dressing for the Dark: From the Silver Screen to the Red Carpet was published last October.
Ms. Young’s Tura collection “was created with the history of eyewear in cinema in mind, taking cues from iconic styles from the golden era of Hollywood, while infusing modern detailing and materials,” a press release said.
It also noted that a portion of proceeds from the kids’ optical frames will go to the Child Mind Institute, a non-profit that works to improve children’s mental healthcare.
“I’m really excited about this project and wanted to create a vintage inspired collection that is sophisticated, elegant and timeless,” Ms. Young said in the release. “Tura has a tremendous heritage in the eyewear market but is also incredibly innovative, modern and focused on quality to make an ideal partnership. Most importantly we are able to donate proceeds to an amazing organization, the Child Mind Institute, whose tireless work improves the lives of children everywhere.”
