The federal indictment on corruption charges this afternoon of U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ) prompted a defiant statement from his longtime ally, Mike Soliman, former state director for Menendez’s senate office.

“Senator Menendez will continue to fight for the people of New Jersey,” said Soliman. “He is not going anywhere.”

As expected, the feds indicted Menendez today after a long time investigation into his relationship with a Florida-based eye doctor.

Menendez will address the media this evening at a scheduled 7 p.m. press conference in Newark.
