This backpack is guaranteed to age beautifully as the rich tones develop a patina over time. Ben Gorham, creative director and founder of Byredo, described these pieces as the beginning of the brand’s evolution into other products.
Since launching Byredo in 2006, Mr. Gorham, who played professional basketball for a while before attending art college in Stockholm, gained recognition as a creative collaborator with an eye as well as a nose for the next zeitgeist. Gypsy Water is a best selling women’s fragrance in the luxury market and guys who would never normally go near a fragrance cave in after a whiff of Baudelaire. Previously a stalwart of Barneys’ basement, a stand-alone Byredo store is set to open at 62 Wooster Street, May 15.
