Your membership may have been declined to SoHo house (we’re looking at you Kim Kardashian), but luckily New York has a host of options to spend your weekends basking in the sun. Luckily, this handful of outdoor hotspots we have rounded up also come complete with a bar, so prepare to soak up the rays with a cocktail in hand.
1. CASA LEVER GARDENS
Casa Lever Gardens is the brain child of the eatery’s newly minted beverage director, Rebecca Applebaum. The space sits adjacent to the uptown Italian staple, and serves up artfully crafted cocktails like the Tommy John Collins (also available in pitchers!) that are perfect for outdoor revelry.
2. THE CHESTER BIERGARTEN
Another newcomer, The Chester Biergarten, opened its doors last week. The extension of the Meatpacking mainstay, The Chester, goes beyond beer. The cocktail list also features libations like the must-order ‘Hellfire’ with Jalapeño-infused Avion, lemon juice and agave.
3. HOTEL AMERICANO
Hotel Americano’s newly revamped rooftop, La Piscine, opened last weekend. The hotel is a clubhouse for the nearby gallery folk, but the roof (which includes a pool and Mediterranean grill) is sure to attract revelers who aren’t too busy shilling Rembrandts to enjoy a moment in the sun.
4. UPSTAIRS AT THE KIMBERLY HOTEL
The Kimberly Hotel’s rooftop, coyly named “Upstairs,” sits 30 stories high above midtown with a phenomenal view of The Chrysler Building. The rain-or-shine spot boasts retractable glass ceilings and walls, and spans over 3,000 square feet.
5. GALLOW GREEN AT THE MCKITTRICK HOTEL
Gallow Green is a bit hidden. Perched on the top of The McKittrick Hotel in the west 20s, home to wacky performance artist troupe Sleep No More, the bar includes a garden area and ample seating. From the outside, the rundown exterior is completely unassuming, making this a great hideaway.
