Maybe this is only hitting me so hard because I just finished reading Books of Blood on the way to work today, but this news about Clive Barker making a web series about CreepyPastas is sending shivers down my (Slender Man) spine. At the Digital Content Newfronts on Monday, which are just as exciting as they sound, I’m sure, online video network Machina unveiled a new slew of series, including a RoboCop reboot (just thought we had one of those?), Justice League: Gods and Monsters Chronicles and Barker’s newest series, based on the “virally shared type of horror fan fiction” that goes by Creepy Pasta.

Though CNET incorrectly identifies CP as the birthplace of Slender Man (sorry, SomethingAwful forums!), the online scary story collection does feature a number of original tales that we could see Mr. Barker updating to chilling effect, including 1999 (that one about a horrifying kids’ show with a bear), Candle Cove (that one about a horrifying kids’ show with pirate puppets) and Where All Bad Kids Go (that one about a horrifying kids’ show…but in Lebanon!). We can’t wait to see what this master of horror comes up with for the series.
