Former Vermont governor and Democratic presidential candidate Howard Dean will headline the welcoming reception for the annual New Jersey Democratic State Committee (NJDSC) conference in Atlantic City.
Dean will appear at the reception scheduled for Thursday night at Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City. He will then attend an issues roundtable of the New Jersey Dems’ Progressive Caucus.
Dean is well-known in national Democratic Party circles. He was Vermont’s governor from 1991 to 2003, then launched a failed presidential bid in 2004. He then served as the chairman of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) from 2005 to 2009.
Dean is also the founder of Democracy for America (DFA), a progressive political action committee.
Sources have told PolitickerNJ that former U.S. Ambassador to Germany and former DNC finance chair Phil Murphy was instrumental is securing Dean’s attendance for the start of the two-day event.
