NORTH BERGEN – Things appeared essentially peaceful outside the Retro Lounge when a black sedan plastered over with Sacco signs barreled past and the driver – Billy the Kid bandana, tattoos – leaned a forearm on the car horn and kept it there, blaring at the congregation of Larry Wainstein troops.

The Retro looks like a Saturday Night Fever setpiece, but it’s actually a Ward 5 District 1 polling place, and in case it’s not obvious that this is a place connected to local politics, there’s a Sacco sign bolted to the second floor exterior wall.
