Control of the local Democratic Committee flipped in Perth Amboy, giving a win to Mayor Wilda Diaz and her chief district ally, state Senator Joe Vitale (D-19).
The mayor’s team defeated the old guard captained by longstanding foe Leslie Dominguez Rodriguez: 36-28.
Diaz’s allies welcomed the win tonight, especially after the mayor sustained a loss in the May special election for a single council seat.
