Rest in Peace, Eileen Kean

eileenPolitickerNJ wishes condolences to Assemblyman Sean Kean (R-30) and the Kean Family.

The Assemblyman’s mother, Eileen Kean of Deal, died last week at age 87.

From her obituary in the Asbury Park Press:

“Born in Melbourne, Australia in 1928, Eileen came to the United States as a small child with her parents who had emigrated from County Cork, Ireland. After living in Manhattan and New Britain, CT, the Kelly family settled in West Orange. Eileen graduated from West Orange High School where she was a cheerleader. After graduation, she worked as a professional photographer in NYC and for the rest of her days she was never without her camera. Eileen’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. After raising her children, she returned to school and graduated from Monmouth University in 1986 with a 4.0 GPA.”

Deeply proud of her Irish heritage, Mrs. Kean was an avid conversationalist and a warm and generous woman.

She will be missed.

According to the Asbury Park Press, Mrs. Kean was predeceased by her husband, Thomas (2002); her parents, Laurence and May (O’Donnell) Kelly; her sisters, Maureen and Patricia; her brother, John, and beloved son, Terrence. She is survived by her brother, Larry and sister-in-law Marie of Lake Mohawk; her children, Brian and wife Marcia of Boston, Maura and husband Dan of Scotch Plains, Naples, Florida, and Asbury Park, Eileen of Ocean Grove, Sean and wife Bridget of Wall and Timothy of Deal. Eileen was known as Grainne to her 16 grandchildren, Meg, Katie, Caitlin, Michael, Brian, Joseph, Kelsey, Brendan, Mairead, Karalyn, Dylan, Jordan, Emily, Sean, Terrence, Mary, and great-grandson, Liam. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 22 at the Buckley Funeral Home, 509 2nd Ave., Asbury Park. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday June 23 at St. Mary’s Church in Deal. Interment will be in St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Sea Girt.
