If you don’t feel like shelling out $100-plus for a pair of pint-sized Vilebrequin swim trunks – the label of choice for daddies and their mini-me’s from Coopers Beach to The Cape – there’s an alternative brand on the block for the father-and-son swimsuit look.
Tom and Teddy was founded by beach enthusiast Michelle L’Huillier, who sought to design a classic swim collection for her own son after drumming up fond memories of childhood romps in the sand. The newest collection features vibrant and contemporary designs by designer Phil Marden and even some vintage-inspired prints of speedboats, scooters and airplanes. “We were excited to work with Phil and were attracted by his distinctive illustrative style,” said L’Huillier, “We love the retro inspired designs in our new collection, and Phil’s motifs complement our existing styles.” Each pair of Tom and Teddy shorts are UV protected, salt water and chlorine resistant and features quick-drying microfiber fabric for super soft, long lasting wear. There’s also a rash top collection in a variety of long and short sleeve styles, with 50-plus UPF (the clothing version of SPF). Boy’s trunks start at $55, while men’s fetch for $95. The perfect Father’s Day gift just in time for summer.
