Senate President Steve Sweeney (D3) today announced the appointment of former News 12 New Jersey political reporter Luke Margolis as Associate Executive Director of Media Relations for the Senate Majority office.
For the last five years, Margolis has covered the State House for News 12’s daily programming, and focused on issues affecting New Jerseyans on his weekend talk show NJ Power and Politics.
“I am excited to bring in such an award-winning, experienced communicator as Luke to help the Senate Majority office keep members of the State House press corps and our citizens in the know on policies and decisions coming out of the Legislature. Luke’s reputation for fair and honest reporting will only add to the seasoned and talented staff already hard at work here in Trenton,” said Sweeney.
Before joining News 12 New Jersey, Margolis was an anchor and reporter for WBRZ-TV in Baton Rouge, LA and Cable-11 News in Ephrata, PA.
“After years of bringing stories from the State House straight to the televisions and computers of New Jersey residents, I’m excited at the chance to play a new role in helping the people of the Garden State get a closer look at the work done on their behalf under the golden dome,” said Margolis.
In addition to his time in broadcast journalism, Luke worked in the publishing industry, most recently with Details Magazine. Luke is a graduate of Boston University’s College of Communications. He and his wife, Dr. Aisha Margolis, live in Monmouth County with their two children.
