YP’s show-stopping set at Afropunk a few weeks back blended hip hop, Congolese drum beats and electro so deftly that you’d believe it was a well-honed medium and not, you know, totally unprecedented. The way Young Paris augments his sound with African dance (performed by his siblings) is deeply intoxicating, so keep a lookout. A video or two will make you feel feelings; a live show might make you reconsider what is real.
