Torqued Ellipses, the long-term Richard Serra exhibit at the Dia:Beacon art center on the banks of the Hudson River in Beacon, New York, is something I think everyone should experience, whether you have a professional interest in design or not. The giant rolled steel pieces are very inspirational to me. The light coming from the top of the narrow passageways of the sculptures gives a sense of grand mystery, and the curves of the rusted steel are all about discovery. It’s a testament to genius design.
