On the same day that Gov. Chris Christie assumes a national stage in his bid to become the Republican nominee for president in 2016, Democrats in New Jersey will be sniping at him from the New Jersey Statehouse.

Senate President Steve Sweeney, Senator Fred H. Madden, Jr. and Senator Linda R. Greenstein will hold a press conference today, calling on lawmakers to override Christie’s veto of S-2360. Originally passed by the Legislature unanimously in both the Senate and the Assembly, the bill would ensure judges have all the relevant information before ruling on whether or not to expunge a mental health record of an applicant seeking to purchase a firearm.

Dems note gleefully that the bill has bi-partisan sponsorship.  Republican Senator James Holzapfel is a primary sponsor and Senators Jennifer Beck and Christopher “Kip” Bateman are co-sponsors.
