Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg is calling out Assemblywomen Mary Pat Angelini and Caroline Casagrande (both R-11) for what she says are false claims regarding efforts to restore funding for women’s health care programs in New Jersey.
According to a statement released by Weinberg on Wednesday, the two assemblywomen made claims “in a glossy mail-piece that landed in mailboxes on Monday” that they “fought Chris Christie” on cuts he made to statewide programs that provide access to mammograms and cancer screening.
“I was surprised and, quite frankly, shocked to see Mary Pat Angelini and Caroline Casagrande trying to take credit for something they have had absolutely nothing to do with,” said Weinberg in the statement.
Weinberg has spearheaded the effort to restore $7.5 million in cuts. She called the claims of Angelini and Casagrande an “insult to the hard work” that she and her colleagues have been doing since 2010 to restore funding.
