Veteran New Jersey Education Association (NJEA) Communications Director Steve Wollmer is leaving his position effective December 1st.

Steve Baker, who has served on the NJEA media team for 13 years, will take Wollmer’s place.

“Steve is a seasoned professional whose knowledge of the myriad policy issues impacting NJEA and its members is second to none,” said Wollmer in an email to the media. “You’ll find him an excellent resource, and the go-to guy for all inquiries on those issues, and on public education in general.

“I’ve had a wonderful 41-year career representing teachers and school employees, and have witnessed major shifts in public policy and its impact on our public schools.  I leave believing ever more deeply in the power of public education to provide genuine opportunity for every child in America,” he added. “It’s been a great ride, and I wish you all well.”
