It felt like for years, basically since The Walking Dead‘s premiere in 2010, you couldn’t encounter a review, recap, Tweet, blog post or otherwise without eventually coming to the question: “But when will Negan show up, and who is going to play him?” And AMC’s massively popular zombie-drama has finally answered; according to The Hollywood Reporter, Jeffrey Dean Morgan (The Good Wife, Watchmen) will take on the foul-mouthed, villainous role, and is set to first appear in the sixth season finale.

In the original Robert Kirkman comic series Negan is the leader of a group calling themselves The Saviors, a violent band of post-apocalyptic lowlifes that bully and subjugate any sanctuary they come across. Negan has his fair share of memorable moments, but the reason his appearance on The Walking Dead has been so anticipated – or maybe dreaded – is because in issue #100 (spoilers spoilers spoilers by God spoilers) Negan bashes the ever-loving nonsense out of fan favorite Glenn’s skull.

This provides an interesting story wrinkle, because show-Glenn kind of might already be dead.

And if you’re looking at that GIF and thinking “yeah that dude is definitely dead,” that’s fair. But as years of hardcore fandom and TV switcheroos have taught us, if you don’t see them die, they ain’t definitely dead. The Walking Dead‘s showrunner Scott Gimple had to release an actual statement on Glenn’s fate, which is doubly hilarious because it said absolutely nothing of substance: “In some way, we will see Glenn, some version of Glenn or parts Glenn again, either in flashback, or current story, to help complete the story.”

So, will Glenn inexplicably survive an entire hoard of zombies only to have The Comedian from Zack Snyder’s Watchmen smash a barbed-wire-baseball-bat over his head? Time will tell. Until then, here is a list of Negan quotes that 100% absolutely need to be included on The Walking Dead, AMC’s relationship with the FCC be damned.

-“Look at this place, it’s motherfucking cocksucking magnificient!”

-“We’re the big swinging dick of this world–have been for a long fucking time…but it seems people are forgetting that. So now our big swinging dick is going to swing harder, and faster, until we take off like a motherfucking helicopter and blow all these motherfuckers away.”

-“Here I am, friendless as a fuckless fuck on a free fuck day.”
