Other attendees included NAACP Passaic County member John Currie (chair of the Democratic State Committee), State President Richard Smith, and Hazel Duke, the NY State Conference NAACP President.

While not a declared candidate, Murphy – who sits on the national board of the NAACP – is avidly pursuing support toward a 2017 gubernatorial campaign.
