Courting African-American power players, former U.S. Ambassador to Germany Phil Murphy invited 60 guests to his Middletown home last night, including Rosalind Brock, chairwoman of the board of the statewide NAACP.

Other attendees included NAACP Passaic County member John Currie (chair of the Democratic State Committee), State President Richard Smith, and Hazel Duke, the NY State Conference NAACP President.

While not a declared candidate, Murphy – who sits on the national board of the NAACP – is avidly pursuing support toward a 2017 gubernatorial campaign.
