Scream Queens fans (hello? You guys…you guys there? No? Good talk), the end of an era is upon us. The “shocking, twisted, two–hour finale” is next week, but really, do we need it? The show essentially just revealed the second Red Devil to us…well, basically.
In a very “Lifetime Original Movie” moment, Grace and Pete debate whether or not to consummate their relationship. Grace turns to her most trusted ally, her father, for advice. Yes, this is also the man that accused her of being a murderer last week. Which isn’t far off, because Grace plots Dean Munsch’s death this week. But we’ll get to that.
Her father urges Grace to wait, telling her that when he had teen sex, he fathered two homicidal twins that he didn’t know existed. Wes should completely star in a NBC PSA: “Don’t have kids. They may try to hunt and kill you with a crossbow. The more you know.” And then the rainbow would cross the screen, and everyone would be left very, very confused.
However, Grace decides she’s ready. When she tries to seduce Pete, he rebuffs her, finally exclaiming that she shouldn’t lose her virginity to “a murderer.” To be fair, she could lose her virginity to a guy who wears jerseys as regular shirts. So, good going Grace! It could always be worse. The “Pete is the Second Red Devil” theory is further backed up by the fact that Boone left everything he owned to Pete in his will. Chad immediately assumes that they’re lovers, but a tense phone call between Pete and an unknown speaker leads us to believe that Pete is the other Red Devil killer.
So, I guess in this show, the phrase “opposites attract” doesn’t exactly apply. Because while Pete has just confirmed he’s a murderer in some form or another, it appears that Grace too has some homicidal tendencies of her own. Chanel proposes to her Kappa sisters that they kill Dean Munsch, and Grace is quick to agree. In an effort to protect her sisterhood, Grace believes they must ban together to catch the last Red Devil. I’m going to have to interject by saying that all of these girls truly and sincerely hate each other, and the only slightly thing they’ve done this entire season is not kill each other. And I can’t even confirm that.
But alas, Grace is set on a sisterhood experience. And, as sisters do, she and Chanel plot to kill the Dean. However, when poisoned apple cider fails to kill their target, Grace realizes she’s not cut out from murder, and backs out of the plan. The other sisters continue their plot, however, and attempt to freeze the Dean to death. When that fails, everyone begins to wonder whether Jamie Lee Curtis will ever die, and realize that maybe she won’t, because she’s close to sixty, and still looks amazing.
So, did anything really happen in this episode? Not really. Chanel got shot by a crossbow by the Red Devil, but she takes it like a champ, and the killer escapes from Denise’s clutches before we discover who he is. Except, I mean, we kind of know who the killer is.
Until next time, Scream Queens.
