Fans of Ryan Roche got more than just a pretty collection at the designer’s Fall 2016 presentation held today at the Avenues School in West Chelsea. As guests filtered inside the school’s gymnasium, they were treated to a live homage of rocker David Bowie in the form of a musical act featuring Roche’s children, Luella, 13, Fionn, 11, and eight of their peers from the Paul Green Rock Academy in Saugerties, New York. The group performed such Bowies classics as “Fashion,” “Starman” and “Heroes”.
Attendees including Jenna Lyons, Mickey Boardman and Sally Singer took in the designer’s latest collection, an hombre-hued lineup of cashmeres and fair isles layered over silk skirts and pantsuits in tones of white, black, camel and rose. Everything in the lineup oozed of comfort and coziness yet with smart tailoring and comprehensive layering techniques, it felt modern and supremely fashion forward. Many of the guests were overheard saying this showing felt like the “highlight of the week” so far. We think Mr. Bowie would have been proud.
