Our World in Data was started in 2011 by Max Roser, a young development economist at Oxford who wanted to take a data-driven approach to visualizing trends of the world around us. Last, a larger team of researchers began contributing to this “work in progress.” The kind of empirical positivity that this project reveals doesn’t make its way into mainstream media very often.
