The Key to Looking Cool in a Bow Tie

Hey boys, put a bow on it.

In anticipation of the Academy Awards, otherwise known as the most anxiously awaited red carpet of the year, let’s discuss the bow tie. Prim, proper and just a bit cheeky, this neck accessory adds character to even the most basic tuxedo.

A go-to for Hollywood’s top stylists, truly any guy can adopt this formal necessary as his own. There are a few rules to observe: Keep the color dark and the prints to a minimum, à la Burberry’s polka dot or Title of Work’s splash of gold. The bowtie already comes with a certain degree of kitsch—there’s no need to add any more.
