Ah, the little black dress. It’s been a cornerstone of women’s closets for eons and can do no wrong by us. Surprisingly, this staple is anything but boring, as nude pumps can be. At Cushnie et Ochs Fall/Winter 2016 showing, the LBDs oozed sex appeal in countless iterations.

Cut outs? Absolutely. Curve-skimming silhouettes? Present. Patent leather ruffles? Absolutely. And all that was served up in New York’s favorite color: black.

At times, the LBD actually turned out to be a pair of loose, long trousers with slits that extended to the knee. Or they were in the form of a slim pencil skirt and slinky camisole. Regardless of the technical definition, designers Carly Cushnie and Michelle Ochs did a stellar job of sprucing up the old classic.
