For the style crowd, the annual CFDA Fashion Awards are equivalent to the Oscars. The red carpet is scrutinized to the nth degree and all the top models, actresses and musicians that the industry is currently obsessed with are on display. Oh, and the top talents of today are honored for their hard work and creative endeavors.
Last night, the CFDA announced the nominees and honorees for this year’s awards, which will take place over a formal dinner on June 6th, at the Hammerstein Ballroom. This is a change from the usual venue of Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center, where the event was previously just a cocktail party followed by an awards ceremony.

Stalwarts such as Marc Jacobs and Rag & Bone nabbed nominations for this year’s awards and a handful of today’s most exciting brands were acknowledged as well, including Monse and Brandon Maxwell. David Bowie will be posthumously recognized with the Board of Director’s Tribute, no doubt for the endless sartorial inspiration he provided for fashion designers of today and yesterday. Donna Karan is being honored for her contributions to the industry and of course the world’s buzziest designer, Gucci’s Alessandro Michele, will be on hand.
