GOP Puts Up Attorney Sonnek-Schmelz in CD6

brentMiddlesex and Monmouth Republicans nominated Bent Sonnek-Schmelz of Atlantic Highlands to run for Congress in the 6th District.

If the party successfully navigates the GOP Primary, Sonnek-Schmelz would face incumbent U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone (D-6) in the November general election.

Chief operating officer and chief counsel at City Sports, Sonnek-Schmelz graduated from University of Pennsylvania Law School, according to his Linked in profile.

He was once a contestant on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.

The District is Democratic-dominant, where Pallone, dean of the Democratic Congressional delegation, has long ruled.

In 2010, riding the Tea Party movement and an anti-incumbency atmosphere, Highlands Mayor Anna Little lost to Pallone by nine percentage points
