Today is International Women’s Day; expect plenty of inspirational quotes on Twitter, allowing powerful women to officially take the floor. While tweeting does bring awareness to gender parity, another way to observe the occasion is with One Million Sisters, a global social campaign that encourages women to support each other by creating real change. They’ve teamed up with Turkish handbag makers Manu Atelier to create a simple and chic leather wristband, sold exclusively at luxury fashion e-tailer Stylebop.
Not only are you adding an extremely wearable bracelet to your jewelry box, you’re supporting OMS’s NGO partners. They’re working with organizations on a wide variety of issues, including economic empowerment with Pro Mujer, maternal health with Every Mother Counts and education with Care International.
The bracelet was designed by Laetitia Belmadani, a founder of One Million Sisters, and it’s handmade in Istanbul from ethically sourced materials. The One Million Sisters video, directed by Katia Belmadani (the co-founder of OMS), opens with Caroline de Maigret, who said, “I really believe that a society with a stronger woman’s input will be a better society.”
By wearing one of the bracelets, you’ll be joining forces with top models who are already fans, including humanitarian Christy Turlington Burns and model and jewelry ambassador Elisa Sednaoui. There’s no guarantee that this bracelet will make you a supermodel, but it will support important women’s organizations and bring awareness to gender inequality around the world.
