Marco Rubio, the Florida senator who for a short time gave hope to a new generation of Republican voters, exited the race for the presidency tonight after performing poorly in his home state.
“While it is not God’s plan that I be president in 2016 or maybe ever, the fact that I’ve even come this far is evidence of how special America is,” Rubio told supporters as he announced the suspension of his campaign.
As expected,billionaire real estate tycoon Donald Trump defeated Rubio, pushing the senator into political oblivion.
