Shen Beauty is offering multiple reasons not only to celebrate Earth Day, but to venture to Brooklyn. The indie store, credited with bringing beauty to Brooklyn, is offering free beauty treatments to everyone who visits their Cobble Hill location all week long.
The shop houses a mini-facial bar and a brow bar, making it the perfect spot for impromptu beauty treatments. It appeals to hip Brooklynites, and especially mothers, who no longer feel like leaving the borough to discover up-and-coming, natural beauty brands. The store offers treatments based on their busy clientele, with facials followed by a makeup application so you can be in and out, avoiding the embarrassing red phase in between. They stock the indie brands beauty editors swear by, all carefully curated. It makes sense that the treatments would be free, because it would be almost impossible to leave empty-handed with Lano, Plant and Cowshed products.
Today, visitors can come in until 6 p.m. for a makeup tutorial with organic Danish brand Kjaer Weis, followed by a talk from the folks at Pommade Divine, the multi-purpose balm makers. On Thursday, there are free blow-outs from cruelty-free, Austin-based haircare company Verb. Friday brings mini facials courtesy of natural skincare line Odacité. Saturday is an “All Day Play Day!” with Immunocologie masks, nutrient shakes and makeup samples. Even if you don’t usually make plans for Earth Day, this chance to discover new, natural brands makes it a holiday well worth celebrating.
