
On Saturday April 9, Perth Amboy Mayor Wilda Diaz welcomed women from all over New Jersey to participate in a power lunch and support her reelection efforts.
The event honored state Senator M. Teresa Ruiz (D-29), Executive Vice-President of 1199 SEIU Milly Silva, LUPE PAC President Noemi Velazquez, local activist Dorothy Daniels, and Pastor Bernadette Falcon Lopez of God’s Army Ministry. Also present was Idida Rodriguez. Kivvit managing partner Maggie Moran was the keynote speaker. Attendance at the event numbered about 200 and also included local women from New Jersey community groups.
Tickets for the luncheon were $75 each. Diaz’s reelection campaign was able to raise $15,000 at the event.
Diaz is the only elected Latina mayor in the state of New Jersey. She is up for reelection in November of 2016.
