When Serial dug into the 1999 murder of 17-year-old Baltimore resident Hae Min Lee and the conviction of her ex-boyfriend Adnan Syded, it exposed an endless string of inconsistencies and problems with the supposed story of what happened and the state’s case against Adnan. Now it appears that after 17 years in prison, Adnan Syed is finally getting a new trial.
This afternoon, attorney Justin Brown took to Twitter to announce that he and his firm have won a new trial for Adnan. He added a celebratory hashtag.

The Observer reached out for details, but Brown was not immediately available for comment. He did, however, follow up with another tweet that promises more details soon. He announced a press conference set to occur later today in Baltimore.
