President Barack Obama today signed into law the first overhaul of the Toxic Substances Control Act in 40 years — the Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act on June 22.

 

President Barack Obama today signed into law the first overhaul of the Toxic Substances Control Act in 40 years — the Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act on June 22.

“This is piece of legislation that will dramatically change our environment,” said Essex County Freeholder Brendan Gill, Lautenberg’s former state director. “It was a long time coming. It’s a real public health victory.”
