A former U.S. Ambassador to Germany and former Goldman Sachs executive, Murphy is so far the only formally declared Democratic candidate in the 2017 race for governor.

“I am proud to give my endorsement and support to Phil Murphy because I have come to know him to be the ‘real deal,’” said Parisi. “Our state needs a governor whose focus will not be on the next election, but on the issues that have plagued us for far too long. Phil has the commitment and skills we need to make the choices that are right thing for New Jersey’s long-term health. I have Phil’s back because I know, as governor, he’ll have ours.”

Parisi served as mayor of Englewood Cliffs from 2005 until his retirement at the end of 2015.
