A new statewide television ad has been launched by Democratic gubernatorial candidate Phil Murphy, a former U.S. ambassador to Germany. The ad will hit television screens across the state starting Wednesday.
The ad focuses on the New Start Career Network, a Rutgers-affiliated organization funded by Murphy. The NSCN is aimed at getting long-term unemployed New Jerseyans over 45 back to work.
In the commercial, a man named Cliff discusses Murphy’s work with the group and how it helped him land a job at a pharmaceutical company.
“My last bout with unemployment, I was out for 23 months. Going through my savings, it was a trying time” Cliff said in the commercial. “He is a champion, I’ll say, in this regard.”
Murphy is the only Democratic candidate currently declared for governor in New Jersey’s 2017 race.
