Have you been searching for yet another excuse to indulge, now that National Ice Cream Day is over and cake just isn’t cutting it? Luckily, just in the nick of time, National Ice Cream Sandwich Day has made its triumphant return to social media feeds everywhere. And as New York treat purveyors like nothing more than a good ‘gram opportunity, there are plenty of ways to procure your fix.
At Jacques Torres, hungry patrons will receive a dollar off of ice cream sandwiches all over the city and in Brooklyn, plus you can choose your own flavor. OddFellows is coming through with freshly made pockets of literal bread. But if you’re looking for something a bit more Insta-ready, head to Sweet Chick, either in the Lower East Side or Williamsburg, for a doughnut ice cream sandwich. Yes, you read that correctly–their specialty summer sandwich has flavors that change weekly, including matcha green tea and white chocolate chip with black sesame ice cream, double chocolate topped with candied bacon, chai with gingersnap ice cream and a lemon poppy donut topped with poppy seeds and vanilla bean ice cream.
And, if you’re hell-bent on staying in Brooklyn, at Pearl’s in Williamsburg (owned by the Sweet Chick owner John Seymour and his wife Fallon, who must love a good donut) you can enjoy their house-made sorrel or Guinness ice cream sandwich atop two freshly baked cookies. Of course, if you’re looking for the most likes of all, there’s always Ice & Vice. After all, nothing says decadence quite like layering your own personal sandwich on top of scoops and a matching cone.
