Andy Warhol-designed underwear worth six figures. Selling used panties is a whole thing, in case you didn’t know, but it’s not everyday you come across a pair with a price tag of nearly $1 million. The underwear, which once belonged to a woman named Titti Wachtmeister, features the handiwork of Pop art master Andy Warhol, who bought the clothing at a drugstore in 1982 and drew an image of Mickey Mouse on them.
Photography exhibition in Russia shut down after protestor tosses urine on art. A Moscow gallery featuring the work of American photographer Jock Sturges, known for his controversial images of nude teenagers, was closed by organizers after an activists threw urine at one of the images.
Ex Tate director Nicholas Serota still plans to curate museum shows. Even though Serota announced at the beginning of September that he would be stepping down from his post of three decades, he now says he is still planning to curate an exhibition on a “living artist” for the museum next year.
Wildenstein family denied in second attempt to delay tax fraud trial. Members of art dealing dynasty Wildenstein family were charged with tax fraud and money laundering by the French court, in a trial that began in January. The court has denied family members’ request that their case be settled in civil court.
Art collector Alberto Mugrabi got married and everyone in the art world was invited. Mugrabi wedded fashion blogger Colby Johnson this weekend in the South of France and Sienna Miller, Dasha Zhukova, Karlie Kloss, Aby Rosen, Larry Gagosian and basically everyone who’s anyone was on hand to celebrate.
