Giancarlo Ghione of the Bergen County Young Republicans (BCYR) has been named the interim executive director of the Bergen County Republican Organization (BCRO). Ghione was an active supporter of newly minted Chairman Paul DiGaetano’s run for chairman in June.
According to DiGaetano, Ghione is a good fit for the position. However, because the young Republican is currently pursuing a law degree at New York Law School, DiGaetano said that the organization does not expect him to stay on at the BCRO on a permanent basis. He said that Ghione, 24, will serve as interim executive director through at least November’s general election. DiGaetano also said that Ghione will be in the office daily through the election and work on communications and digital platforms.
“Giancarlo Ghione is a very talented young man,” DiGaetano said. “I am pleased that he has agreed to serve as the Bergen County executive director on an interim basis. We need somebody now.”
According to DiGaetano, Ghione’s interim status will allow the BCRO to find the right candidate to take on the role permanently.
“With Giancarlo working at least through the election it gives plenty of time for us to find exactly the right person. We are looking for somebody long-term but we haven’t found that person yet,” DiGaetano said.
