This is how you win NYFW

Bella Hadid made her first New York Fashion Week appearance at last night’s DKNY show and she was joined by a veritable gaggle of model “it” girls.

Following in her wake was Hanne Gaby Odiele, Romee Strijd, Stella Maxwell, Soo Joo Park, Imaan Hammam, Taylor Hill and Julia Nobis. Basically, the whole gang was all present to stomp down the Highline, which was closed off for the late night runway.

The well-received show offered proof that creative directors Maxwell Osborne and Dao-Yi Chow have both the vision and the design skills to bring DKNY back to the popularity it faced in its heyday. However, the design duo made sure their collection would appeal to the current generation of DKNY shoppers: millennials who are label obsessed, Instagram fanatics and intrigued by the streetwear culture.

This resulted in a range of street smart hoodies, logo-splashed bra tops and stringy pinstripe suits that riffed on the Wall Street staple. There were also sweater dresses with elongated sleeves and one sheer anorak after another.

Also of note were the model’s lips, which were done up in Pat McGrath‘s Lust 004 Lip Kit, in the deep Bloodwine hue, finished off with a touch of golden sparkle. This lip situation was basically made for social media and is so popular that it’s currently sold out. Last night, the makeup artist let those pouts shine, as she kept the rest of the model’s faces looking bare and dewy.

Needless to say, the DKNY duo nailed it this season.
