It’s real, sources say.
Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop will declare his decision not to run for governor today and is expected to announce his support for former Goldman Sachs executive Phil Murphy, multiple sources tell PolitickerNJ.
We have not personally spoken to Fulop.
Murphy is moving quickly to secure other endorsements, sources say, and is digging in for a fight against Senate President Steve Sweeney (D-Gloucester).
Murphy allies are very confident with ground secured in North Jersey.
Insiders speculated in the wake of the news that Fulop’s endorsement of Murphy would put him in line to ensnare U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez’s seat if it opens.
