Rosie Assoulin‘s attention to detail just might be what makes her presentations a favorite for those on the NYFW circuit. For example, her latest Spring/Summer 2017 range included over 358,00 Swarovski crystals. Further, the set of her presentation was made from thousands of styrofoam peanuts, which everyone knows is probably the most annoying material known to mankind. Guests were also treated to a colorful pile of salt
Simply enough, Assoulin’s inspiration was the summer season. Her ebullient designs recalled lazy days at the beach, flagging down an ice cream truck and basking in the sun’s glow. All this came to light through–you guessed it–minute details. Shoes were decorated with swinging threads of crystals, the back of a shirt was emblazoned with the phrase “wish you were here” and some models had the petals of flowers plastered to their faces. The color scheme was vibrantly joyful and the silhouettes were loose, wide and buoyant, the signatures of Assoulin’s designs.
As for the sunglasses, those were created in collaboration with Morgenthal Frederics. The two styles, one with round lenses and another with geometric lenses, will debut next spring in six different colors. Now you can really wear Assoulin’s designs from head-to-toe, just don’t forget to throw on one of these festive straw hats.
