Steve Fulop kayoed.
Steve Sweeney out on his feet. His ghastly pallor turned heads at a state Senator Sandy Cunningham event on Tuesday night.
Ray Lesniak: filing this week to run for governor.
Phil Murphy: the heavy favorite, with northern counties going all in with the former Goldman Sachs executive.
And John Wisniewski, the assemblyman from Sayreville?
He’s still acting like a candidate for governor.
He appeared in Bedminster last week toting a batch of fortune cookies with his name inside, and tonight he appeared at another Somerset County Democratic Committee event in support of sheriff’s candidate Darrin Russo.
He and Murphy both addressed the crowd, as Wisniewski gave off an unimpeachable “I can still stop him” vibe amid back chatter about him holding out for state Department of Transportation chief.
Somerset Democratic Chair Peg Schaffer appeared vaguely harassed by the gubernatorial circus as she tries to get Russo past incumbent Sheriff Frank Provenzano.
“I want to focus on this election,” she told PolitickerNJ. “I’m doing nothing [in terms of a gubernatorial endorsement] until the day after the election.”
It was a good night for Russo, a retired Franklin Twp. cop, who received endorsements from the state Police Benevolent association, firefighters and NOBLE (National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives).
