In CD2, LoBo Dumps Trump After Lewd Tape Surfaces

LoBiondo for Congress today issued the following statement from U.S. Congressman Frank LoBiondo (NJ-02) regarding the 2016 Presidential election:

“Saying this election has been incredibly disappointing is an understatement. It never had to be this way. We should be debating the issues that affect our nation’s future. Instead we have two horribly flawed choices. It is clear that neither Donald Trump nor Hillary Clinton can unify a deeply divided country.

“I have repeatedly and strongly spoken out against Mr. Trump when he degrades and insults women, minority groups and Gold Star military families. I will not vote for a candidate who boasts of sexual assault. It is my conclusion that Mr. Trump is unfit to be President.

“Similarly Secretary Clinton’s dishonorable actions – flagrantly ignoring federal laws, repeated failures in judgment on critical foreign policy and national security decisions, and intentionally lying to Congress and the American people – have disqualified her.

“I cannot support and will not vote for Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton to be President of the United States. I will write in Governor Mike Pence for President.”

LoBiondo wants to defeat Democratic challenger Dave Cole in November.

Cole released a statement.

“For almost 25 years, Frank LoBiondo has represented Donald Trump in Congress,” said the Democratic challenger. “They’ve had decades of conversations, off camera and off the record. Now that one recording of Trump has surfaced, the public can fully see the man that LoBiondo has stood by “unconditionally” throughout this campaign.

“Make no mistake — this is the same Donald Trump today that he was yesterday, the same Donald Trump that LoBiondo knew and collaborated with for decades.

“Donald Trump is hurting the Republican Party’s chances to win, so LoBiondo would like us to believe he’s had a change of heart about Trump. This is far too little too late, and another disappointing example of Trump’s South Jersey representative putting his party’s chances over the people he’s supposed to represent.

“Our campaign has been holding up voices of South Jersey voters who have been devastated by Trump and LoBiondo’s bankrupting of our casinos, our plants, and our economy at-large. There have been decades of collaboration between Trump and LoBiondo. One statement can’t deny the hurt, pain, and loss felt by so many in our district.”
