Fashion designers know the importance of producing items that customers actually need. In the year 2016, an iPhone (and of course a case for it) is very high on that list. Which is why Louis Vuitton‘s Nicolas Ghesquière gave his shoppers what they never knew they needed: a very, very luxe cell phone receptacle.
The Vuitton offering might be very modern thinking and tech-focused, but it was still seeped in history. The design appeared to be a nod to the historic trunks that the maison is well-known for. This case gave the phone four sharp corners, in addition to teeny toggles and a healthy smattering of studs. The case, which appeared on the spring/summer 2017 runway, was offered in the brand’s signature logo, reinterpreted in black and white, or blinged out in gold; the cases also came in blue or gold crocodile.
This case appears to be a riff on the Petite Maille bag, which resembles a tiny trunk and retails for about $5,200. We have a feeling that the cost of these covers will rival that four-figure price tag. However, one thing’s for sure: Every phone call will become significantly more stylish with the addition of this case. Even Ghesquière couldn’t resist a photo op with his opulent new design, the night before his show.
You might want to start saving your pennies now, for the chicest phone case of the season.
