Stated simply, pearls are having a moment. On spring 2017 runways, they were everywhere, from a pearl-encrusted sheer skirt at Vera Wang to enthusiastically decorated slides at Tory Burch, a more-rambunctious-than-usual layering of strands at Chanel and even a street-style take on the bauble at Fenty x Puma. In stores now, the new pearl jewelry is clean and simple with an architectural twist.
For an unforgettable but delicate necklace, CVC Stones dangles a cultured white baroque pearl off of a cream-colored beach stone, both encrusted with gypsy-set white diamonds. On a more celestial note, Mateo New York designer Matthew Harris has placed a freshwater pearl atop a 14-karat gold ring, with an orbit of diamonds that floats above the knuckle. And if you’re aiming even higher, it seems that H.Stern’s earrings, with a trio of pearls and a diamond-studded star, is just within reach.
