Ashanti ft. Ja Rule

If there was a collaboration 2016 needed, it’s Ja Rule and Ashanti coming back together again. It’s not quite as catchy as “Always On Time,” but it’s definitely an R&B jam that easily gets suck in your head. Ashanti’s still got some of the best pipes in the game.

The Weeknd

While Starboy is about eight songs too long, “Rockin’” is one of the most addictive tracks on the record. It’s the perfect electro-pop track. David Bowie would be proud.

Lizzy Land

Lizzy Land is a bit of a newbie in the pop scene, but her candy-sweet vocals suggest otherwise. You may have caught her on this Mating Ritual track, but “Sweet Melodies” shows she can stand on her own

Hippo Campus

One of the newest Grand Jury signings, Hippo Campus is 2016’s answer to alt-J. It’s no surprise these indie-rockers are joining the same label family as Day Wave and Mothers: the band has a similarly nostalgic feel.

Sylvan Esso

Thank God for Sylvan Esso. The duo is back with that same, familiar electro-pop dynamic that helped them rise on “Kick Jump Twist.” Let’s hope everything in 2017 sounds as good as this song.
