If you’re getting a head start on your 2017 wardrobe, make sure to start buying a lot of green, as Pantone has selected that hue as the color of the year. To be exact, the color code is 15-0343 and the official name is “greenery.”

Closely resembling a fresh kelly green hue, this is a particularly timely choice, as it tends to factor into the wellness category, too. The selection also happens to pay homage to the horrible events that have plagued 2016, but also the optimism we all hold for 2017. “This is the color of hopefulness, and of our connection to nature. It speaks to what we call the ‘re’ words: regenerate, refresh, revitalize, renew. Every spring we enter a new cycle and new shoots come from the ground. It is something life affirming to look forward to,” Pantone Color Institute executive director Leatrice Eiseman told The New York Times

Greenery was already spotted on the spring 2017 runways of Balenciaga, Michael Kors and Prada, but it really made a splash through many recent Gucci collections. Perhaps this is yet another example of the Gucci effect? Regardless, designers such as Delpozo and Coach didn’t hold out for 2017 to release plenty of dresses, leather skirts and sparkly shoes that all pertain to the poppy, earthy hue. Here are nine greenery options to shop now, giving you a head start on a major trend of 2017.
