Veteran state Senator Diane Allen is retiring at the end of this year, opening up an opportunity for Assemblyman Troy Singleton (D-7) to move up.
“Senator Allen is a friend and an exemplary public servant,” Singleton said. “I’m sad to see her go.”
Singleton plans to run for the seat.
“I am going to put my name forward to the county committee be considered,” the assemblyman said.
Singleton has the coveted support of U.S. Rep. Donald Norcross and his elder brother, South Jersey boss George Norcross III.
