Jeanette McFarlane
Climate & Headwaters Expert
Jeanette is a farmer, educator, and environmental steward rooted in Ontario’s Niagara Escarpment. Alongside her husband, she raises sheep on their farm in Mulmur, guided by the belief that land is not owned, but cared for during one’s time with it. Through a deep respect for natural systems, she is committed to improving the health of the land and safeguarding it for future generations. With years of experience leading an Outdoor Education Centre, Jeanette has dedicated her career to connecting people to the natural world. She has inspired thousands of students to “be more and need less,” and taught students to understand their role they play on this earth. Her work has always centered on stewardship, accountability, and doing the right thing. It’s rooted in knowing that one person can make a difference. Drawing on both lived agricultural experience and commitment to environmental education, Jeanette brings a credible, grounded voice to conversations about protecting Ontario’s waters. She understands firsthand the connection between land management and water health, and what it means to make good decisions based on long term-thinking.
