Creative Director Katharine Brandes launched BB Dakota in 2008 and Jack, the sister label, in 2009. Brandes is a graduate of Princeton University, and recipient of the Thomas H. Maren Thesis Prize for her work on madness and the drug metaphor in Shakespeare’s history plays, which was published in several academic reviews. She went to Parsons School of Design thereafter, where her focus was on apparel design.
